We have some news…

This post has been a long time coming but we have some news… WE’RE MOVING!

I still can’t believe that’s happening later this month BUT we are moving to be closer to my in-laws for a few years!

Here’s how this all went down….

If you’ve been around here a while then you know, we’ve talked about moving down south for YEARS now and actually had decided to really start looking last year but then Covid hit and we had a few other things going on.. then in September, we found out we were having TWINS and things changed again…

The day we moved into our home – August 2013

Aside from the hospital with the twins, we’ve never had a night or even afternoon away from Magnolia (except when we’ve been working and she at daycare). We were fine with this but even to try and plan a trip or anything for the two of us, it was always too much work to coordinate someone coming to stay with her so we’ve just never done anything! Once we found out we were having twins, we knew we couldn’t keep that up with 3 kids and still have NO time away from them at all. And Magnolia always loves seeing people and family – especiallly after being so cooped up during Covid!

When we found out we were having twins, we knew our dreams of moving down south would have to be put on hold for at least 3 years until we could really get some help with the kids and maybe have a little time for just Logan and myself for our sanity?! When we found out they were twins, Logan’s immediate response was “I guess we will be moving to Oshkosh for a little bit…” Never did I think Id hear those words come out of Logan’s mouth… ever! And I don’t think his family did either because they were shocked on all fronts!

Now, we haven’t actually been back to Oshkosh/Appleton since deciding this but yet we have a house that we close on in a few weeks! We’ve been looking since January and at first decided we’d build… but then after getting our bids back, they realized it was going to be $50K OVER what they initally thought (the builder) and since this isn’t a forever home, we decided not to go that route.. this pushed us back about a month for looking for houses and with this market, we knew we were already behind! We then found and put an offer on 3 other homes before finally getting the house we’ve purchased!

How it all started 8 years ago…. (We’ve been in MN for 11 years though – our whole relationship!)

We knew we wanted to move on my maternity leave so that we had some time to get situated (we’ll have about 2 weeks) before daycare and work started back. In the meantime, we also knew we had to put our house on the market too which meant that we needed to get it ready for pictures and showings with 2 infants and a toddler! We’ve been working on it for the last month and any spare time I had from the twins while they napped or at night, i’d work on decluttering and getting things in the garage. Same went for Logan while he wasnt working. Are we crazy?!?! Absolutely!! Stressed? You can’t even imagine! But we’re praying this is the right route for us and that after we move, get situated and get the girls all settled in the new daycare, that we’ll be less stressed and get a little time for us. I’m talking even a few hours in the afternoon on a weekend – nothing crazy! Ha!

That weekend we went to EC to visit my Mom?! It was so we could be out of the house for showings so we didn’t have to pack the kids and dogs up multiple times in order to have showings.

We chose this area too because it’s about an hour and a half from some of my family members too and all of Logans family will live within 30 minutes of us which means we’ll have about 6-7 people able to help us as needed which is great. I think it’s still very surreal to us that it’s all happening!

How it is now… 3 weeks ago!

Oh yeah, and Logan starts a new job this week… so just a few things going on with us! We are fortunate that both of our jobs are remote so we are able to continue with our jobs and have no issues. SUPER THANKFUL for that!

I joke with Logan and say that if we can survive having twins, getting our house ready to sell, packing and moving (and purchasing a house in this crazy market!!!) and him starting a new job all within 9 weeks of each other then we can survive anything!

I’ll share more about the new house at a later time and will take you along in the process of getting it all ready as we move in! Thankfully, its beautiful and move in ready so we don’t need to worry about doing anything to it ahead of time – except maybe clean the carpets and change the toilet seats. Everyone does that right?! Or is it just me?!

Wish us luck as we have less than a month until we close and say Peace Out to Minnesota!

Kristi

Congrats! I am so glad that you guys have to opportunity to move closer to family during the next few years. I am sure it will be a bit of a change to leave Minnesota, but it’s not like you’re moving to Florida or Arizona … it sounds like you’re moving to Wisconsin so you’re still not too far from Minnesota if/when you decide you need to come back to hit up your favorite places. Now, I am sure you will miss all of your favorite little places but in my opinion as long as you find a good grocery store, coffee shop, and place to go for a walk with the girls you’ll probably be okay! ❤
